Hunter College Environmental Week 2008

The Graduate Student Association co-sponsored Hunter College's Environmental Week November 10-14, 2008, along with the Undergraduate Student Government, Hunter Solar Project and CUNY Institute for Sustainable Cities.

This year's events included two energy-saving workshops, a screening of the film Who Killed the Electric Car?, a demonstration of indoor "worm-bin" composting, and the Campus Carbon Challenge, which aimed to raise awareness of climate change on campus and gauging perceptions of the subject.  Students and faculty participating in the Challenge completed a survey in which they reported their understanding of and thoughts on climate change, and also pledged to try and reduce their personal carbon footprint for a month by making simple changes in their day-to-day lives. 69 students and faculty members completed the initial survey.

Thanks to all who participated in these events, and a special thank you to the many students who helped make this week of environmental awareness possible!
